Founding Member Of ELO Killed In Freak Traffic Accident
Mike Edwards, a founding member of Electric Light Orchestra, was killed on September 3 in a freak traffic accident in Southwest England.
The 62-year-old cellist was driving in a van that was struck by a 1,300 pound bale of hay, which had rolled off of a truck from a nearby farm. The bale rolled down a steep hill and landed on Edwards' van.
The van was then struck by another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the collision.
Police said they used YouTube clips and photos of Edwards to identify the 62-year-old but they still need his family to formally identify the body.
Edwards, who once changed his name to Deva Pramada, was with Electric Light Orchestra from 1972 to 1975. He quit the band and began teaching cello after converting to Buddhism.
